The postmaster was no help!

The piece above was done for a friend. He has so few family pictures that I turned this one of his mom into a special piece. He loves it! Soon I am finishing a special book of his family pictures that he has.
Today I talked to the postmaster of the local post office. It seems if I mail my art cards from "my post office" they never get where they are going and aren't returned as if not enough postage. Soooo I am furious with whoever is collecting or trashing my cards! This has happened quite often since I moved here. I will now have to drive to any other post office since they seem to get where they are going. ARRG! I am freaking about this. My son among others never got my cards!

ADD moments

I have a bunch of things going on in my head and nothing is falling together(project wise). Situations with my sons life occupy too much of my time nowdays, again. I am finding out when I use my local(surly girls)post office the art cards never get to who I sent them to. If I drive to a farther one they get where they are going and with a smile, sigh!I am going to complain Monday. I have submitted to Somerset Studio a promising piece. Sounds good from Jenny Doh,so that should keep me going. Still I get clouded with thoughts and need to focus. The pictures are of my well worn shell collection and box that I keep on the sunporch. I would love a long walk on the beach by myself right now.

Things to do in air conditioning

I was bookless having just read Augusten Burroughs laugh out loud in bed books. I pick books by their covers occasionally(shh)and wouldn't you with this one? "The Lavender Hour" is a book my husband would call a chick book. What is funny about this book is Gypsy had emailed me about jewelry made with human hair not all that long ago. This was after she saw my previous entry of the portrait someone made out of hair. Anyway the woman in this book does hospice work but alsooooo makes jewelry for alot of cancer patients out of human hair. Coincidence? How funny when you hear about something unusual twice in such a short time? This book is for you Gypsy, for sure.

the Divine M

Molly is the redhead. What can I say about my niece Molly. She is our family delight! This kid has it all brains, looks, talent, etc. She just finished her 2nd year at YALE. This summer she is invited to an opera symposium in Italy. She has played the cello with orchestras, she sings in a accapela group in Yale. In fact her song was played on CBS as an example. She is having the time of her life! Go MOLLY! We are all so proud. ooweoo from AJ. I am sending her this card I just made.

Sending out Thank You art cards

I am never expecting presents but I love giving them. I just recieved from my sister an espresso maker. Wow this is a "Starbucks" one also! It requires alot of reading and a cd to learn this but by winter you know what I will be drinking!

Then yesterday a favorite pub sent me T-shirts and other goodies. Some people just go that extra mile and I am ever so grateful and suprised. Don't you just love the unexpected from people? Believe me I am floored with delight! I am also sending off thank you art cards. XOXOXOXOX

Summer cards

My favorite post cards or collages have been created in the morning after reading the paper. I don't often wake up with creative ideas unfortunately, so I try to paint a blank page in a journal, or on a undone project or do these small collages. I love to use words as prompts for an idea. Then I can find my paper pallet or paints. I still love torn edges.

Sunday I may drive over to Georgetown to my favorite shop for papers. Wander and have lunch with a friend. I started stocking up on fabrics also to make some easy summer tops in funky and interesting fabrics. When you get my age it's hard to find interesting artsy clothes on a limited budget. Yum I found some wonderful cottons in batiks. I used a favorite top of mine as the pattern and after the first one I made last week I know the mistakes to look out for.

How bizzare,how bizzare.

This weekend when I was trying to organize I came across this photo. This piece was hanging in a gallery in town, don't remember where and fortunately I had my camera with me. This portrait, don't know who it's by,was done completely with hair.,HAIR! It is somewhat bizzare but quite unique. Amazing what people can create art with.

Self portrait challenge

Now if I can figure how to add my photo to the self portrait challenge I will be happy. I had so much fun doing this old pic of myself. It was a transparency I played with in my photo programs then printed by the sun (element). I captured myself by the timer in a pose I felt most represented my constant pensiveness toward life and the future. The big old house porch and windows were a plus for the background.

Re-doing Peterpans book.

I was enjoying looking over old pictures of our "best cat ever" Marley in Peterpans baby pictures. Just love how these 2 animals got along and loved each other. Marley was wayyy larger than Pete but he was so gentle with him. I will never find another cat as dear as he was.

4th of July

Independence day...makes me wonder who decided after their people were in to shut the doors behind them?
